In January 2023, the Liberty Group launched its flagship music concert ‘An Intimate Evening with…’. The first installment was An Intimate Evening with Gregory Porter. The acclaimed singer performed in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
In November 2023, Liberty prepared a welcome musical showcase in preparation for its second installment of the Intimate Evenings. This time, with Lalah Hathaway. For her welcome, I was commissioned by Griza Enterprise on behalf of Liberty to curate a ‘Welcome Note’ for the songstress ahead of her 2024 concert entitled: An Intimate Evening with Lalah Hathaway.
The Welcome Note was a music and poetry show hosted at Sanctuary Mandela on 29 November 2023. Our musical director was DJ Kenzhero, with a band arrangement by Kutlwano Masote, and performances from Melo B Jones, Zarcia, Siya Makakane, Spha Mdlalose. Brenda Sisane read the poetry written by me. MC for the evening was Nothemba Madumo.
